Official Certified Translations:
Everything You Need to Know
What Are Official Translations?
Official translations, commonly known as Certified translations, are translations of documents that require a signed statement that the translation is a true and accurate translation of the original.
The result is an accurate and official translation certified by Official Certified Translators that have graduated from the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting of the Ionian University, which is equivalent to the translations bearing the signature of a lawyer, or that of translators certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Legal Validity and Acceptance of Official Translations
Official translations are documents that hold legal validity and are accepted by Municipalities, Ministries, Tax Authorities, General Secretariats, Directorates of Primary or Secondary Education, Embassies, Chambers, Associations, Banks, and various other public and private sector organizations and bodies.
Alta Lexica offers the possibility of translation validation in accordance with the Greek Presidential Decree 169 of 17 June 2002 (Official Gazette 156/2.7.02) through our certified translators and with the Code of Lawyer’s Conduct (Official Gazette A 235 195 41 008, Article 53) through our partnering law firms, which renders the translation official for any use in the private and public sector, in Greece and abroad, equivalent to those provided by the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
